Having a BFRB or knowing someone with one can be a very confusing, stressful and overwhelming experience. CBSN recognizes that it is very hard to find support close to home for these particular disorders, so we have come up with a virtual peer support program.

What:

CBSN’s Online Peer Support Program* involves confidential emails between you and a CBSN chosen supporter. Ask your supporter any questions you may have with relation to BFRBs. Whether you yourself suffer from a BFRB, or you are a parent/loved one who needs answers or suggestions, CBSN will choose the appropriate online supporter for you.

How:

To be set up with an Online Peer Supporter all you have to do is send an email to support@canadianbfrb.org with the subject line being ONLINE SUPPORT. Please indicate in the email if you yourself suffer with a particular BFRB, or you are a loved one who needs support. CBSN will then pick an appropriate match for your needs. If you have a preference for who you speak to (Male/Female or Age), we can arrange for these requests as well.

Why:

While we work on spreading in person support groups across Canada, we realize how important and necessary support is. From Nunavut to Nova Scotia, CBSN can still support you! We believe peer support is the greatest way to get help. Connecting with someone who really understands what you are going through can be a very rewarding and often overlooked solution.

*Please note, you don’t have to be Canadian to access this program.

So email us today if you need help or are interested in becoming a peer supporter: support@canadianbfrb.org

You can also find virtual support by joining private/closed Facebook Groups where you can chat with people who have a BFRB—find CBSN’s Canadian specific group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/canadianbfrb/

Testimonial

“I am so glad that I reached out about the peer support program and really appreciated the support I received. I was matched with someone who has dealt with similar challenges and who could share tips, strategies, and knowledge with me. My peer supporter was extremely kind and encouraging. The most helpful thing was just to connect with someone who is dealing with similar issues and feel that I’m not alone in this. I feel so much more supported in taking my first steps toward addressing this challenge for the first time. I truly recommend the peer support program for anyone who feels like they would benefit from having that connection with someone wherever they are in their journey.” -Online Peer Support Program participant
